Couple denies having live ammo found in police raid

A couple was placed on bail yesterday after denying ownership of live rounds allegedly uncovered by police during a house raid.

Police allege that Winston Marshall, 29, of Lot 86 First Street, Craig, East Bank Demerara, and Faith Fordyce, a vendor, of Lot 67 South Sophia, had 3 live rounds of ammunition, which were found when they raided Fordyce’s house.

City Magistrate Ann McLennan heard that several police officers, acting on information, carried out a search at Fordyce’s home on June 26th, 2015, and found the ammunition.

The prosecution objected to bail given the seriousness and prevalence of the offence.

But the magistrate placed Marshall and Fordyce on $150,000 bail each. Their next court date is July 23rd, 2015.
