Jean Smith is latest Guyanese centenarian

Mrs Jean Smith of Station Street, Kitty, recently celebrated her 100th birthday anniversary in Toronto Canada.

She was joined by family and friends at a formal dinner on Saturday May 16, followed by a tribute on Sunday May 17 at the First Baptist Church of Toronto, which is that city’s oldest black institution, founded in 1826 by 12 runaway slaves.

Jean Smith is the widow of Percy Edward Smith, retired Marine Inspector of Transport and Harbours Department, who died in December 2014. They had been married for 70 years.
