Repeat offender gets 48 months for stabbing man in eye

Levi Williams was handed a 48-month jail sentence yesterday after pleading guilty to stabbing another man in his eye.

Williams, who was only recently released from prison after serving a year for a similar attack, was charged with wounding Jermaine Sampson with the intent to maim, disfigure, disable, or cause him actual bodily harm.

The attack took place on June 17th, at D’Urban Backlands, Georgetown and resulted in Sampson being hospitalised with a stab wound to his eye and other parts of his body.

Williams, of D’Urban Street, Lodge, had initially pleaded not guilty to the charge. However, when he appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman yesterday, he opted to enter a guilty plea.

In light of his guilty plea, the miner was sentenced to serve 48 months in prison.

In June, 2014, Williams was sentenced to 12 months in prison by then Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Edmond for stabbing another man multiple times during an argument. He pleaded guilty to that charge as well.
