A 37-year-old man was yesterday refused bail by Magistrate Fabayo Azore before whom he appeared to answer to three charges, which included escaping from lawful custody.
Regan Rodrigues pleaded not guilty to the three charges read to him at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 5.
It is alleged on July 13 at River View, Ruimveldt, while in the custody of Constable 2041 Thomas pending criminal charges for unlawful possession of firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, Rodrigues escaped from lawful custody. It is also alleged on the same date, he had in his possession one Taurus pistol without being a licensed firearm holder and 14 live rounds of ammunition.
No other facts were presented in court but the court heard that Rodrigues was charged before in a matter of a similar nature.
As a result, bail was refused and the matters were adjourned to August 4.
