Five fined $7,500 for driving under the influence

The police are continuing their campaign against driving under the influence and five more persons were fined $7,500 each after pleading guilty.

A release from the police yesterday said that Joseph Appiah of Seawell, East Berbice, was stopped and tested with a breathalyzer on 2015-07-10 while driving motor vehicle PKK 6873 on the Number 2 Public Road, Canje. He was found to be above the legal limit. He was charged and appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court on 2015-07-13 where he pleaded guilty and was fined $7,500.

Danraj Hebnatine of Albion, Corentyne, Ber-bice, was stopped and tested with a breathalyzer on 2015-07-05 while driving motor vehicle CH 800 on the Palmyra Public Road, Canje. The police said that he was found to be above the legal limit. He was charged and appeared in the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court on 2015-07-07 where he pleaded guilty and was fined $7,500.

He was found to be above the legal limit, police say. He was charged and appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court on 2015-07-07 where he pleaded guilty and was fined $7,500.

Tyron Singh of Glasgow, EBB, was stopped and tested with a breathalyzer on 2015-07-05 while driving motor vehicle CE 4229 on the Palmyra Public Road, Canje. The police said that he was found to be above the legal limit. He was charged and appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court on 2015-07-07 where he pleaded ‘guilty’ and was fined $7,500.

Meanwhile, Kevin Mangal of Lot 78 Tain Settlement, Corentyne, was stopped and tested with a breathalyzer on 2015-07-05 while driving motor vehicle PMM 3203 on Palmyra Public Road, Canje. He was found to be above the legal limit. He was charged and appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court on 2015-07-07 where he pleaded guilty and was fined $7,500.
