No bail for man on ganja trafficking charge

A North Ruimveldt man who was allegedly found with a quantity of cannabis in his possession was remanded to prison yesterday when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

Jason Primo pleaded not guilty to possession of narcotics for trafficking.

It is alleged that on July 24, at Agricola, East Bank Demerara (EBD), Cort had in his possession 48 grammes of cannabis.

Primo’s attorney applied for reasonable bail to be granted on the grounds that his client was injured to his leg about one month ago and he is required to visit the hospital for treatment.

Prosecutor Deniro Jones objected to bail, while noting that no special reasons were provided for Primo to be granted his pre-trial liberty.

As a result, Magistrate Ann McLennan ordered that Primo be remanded to prison until August 12.
