Mahdia, Eteringbang airstrips for rehab

The Mahdia and Eteringbang airstrips are set for major rehabilitation.

Yesterday’s Guyana Chronicle carried an Invitation for Bids from the Ministry of Public Works for rehabilitation of the Eteringbang Airstrip in Cuyuni/Mazaruni to the tune of $98m and the Mahdia airstrip in Potaro/Siparuni in the amount of $62m.

The notice said that qualifications and experiences for these projects include but are not limited to the completion of hinterland airstrip projects. The notice said that these should have been similar to the works now proposed.

Bids have to be submitted by September 15, 2015 to the Chairman, National Procurement and Tender Administration Board, Ministry of Finance, Main and Urquhart streets.

Bids will be opened at the same address on Tuesday, October 7th at 9 am.

For years, local aviation operators have complained about the state of interior airstrips.
