Lamaha St accident victims stable

The two persons injured in the collision between a car and bicycle along on Lamaha Street on Sunday morning are both in stable condition at the George-town Public Hospital (GPH).

William Nurse, 53, and Lisa Khedoo, 37, a staffer of the GPH, were struck from the bicycle they were travelling on after the driver of a car, bearing licence plate PNN 9, lost control of his vehicle.

Nurse sustained head and spinal injuries, while Khedoo was up to late yesterday afternoon being prepared to undergo surgery on one of her hands, which was broken. She also sustained a fractured jaw and spinal injuries.

According to Nurse’s wife, Indranie, his condition has improved and he has started to respond. She added that the driver of the car, who was released from custody, visited the patients at the hospital. It was unclear whether the driver was released on station bail.
