Narrow escape for children in Victory Valley fire

A fire last evening nearly claimed the lives of three children at Victory Valley, Linden.

Stabroek News understands that the children were left home alone when the fire erupted and neighbours frantically broke away at a section of the house to allow the children to escape.

Neighbours said that the children would often be left at home alone and would be locked in and as a result when the fire erupted they were scared to leave.

The children’s mother was not home at the time of the fire and this newspaper was informed that she was in One Mile Wismar, Linden, but did return for her children.

The fire started at approximately 18:00hrs and engulfed the house in mere minutes.

Residents in the area told Stabroek News that the mother left the area with her children shortly after the fire died down.
