New EU ambassador arrives

Newly appointed Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Guyana Jernej Videtič yesterday called on Vice-President and Minister of Foreign Affairs Carl Greenidge, to whom he presented copies of his credentials. According to a release from the EU Delegation in Guyana, Ambassador Videtič is expected to present his Letters of Credence to President David Granger tomorrow, after which he will officially take up his duties.

Ambassador Videtič, who arrived in Guyana over the weekend, is married and has a daughter. He hails from Slovenia and previously served as its Ambassador to Montenegro. Over the next four years he will continue to build on the already well-established relations between Guyana and the European Union, the release said.
