A Brazilian man was on Sunday found dead in a gold mining camp located in Region Eight, with a wound above his eye and two men have since been detained, Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum said yesterday.
The dead man had been identified as Josi Mar Perreira Silva, 51, of Boa Vista, Brazil.
Blanhum, when contacted, told Stabroek News that a gold mat is missing from the camp which is located at Mowasi Backdam, Mahdia.
In a press release earlier in the day, police said the man was discovered dead at 09:00 hrs.
The police are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination.
