Two Guyanese facing drug charges in Barbados

Two Guyanese nationals have been slapped with eight drug charges after being caught with drugs aboard their fishing vessel, Barbados Today reported yesterday.

Coco Ibert Prophett, 29, and Paul Fraser, 42, have been charged with possession of cannabis, possession with intent to supply cannabis, trafficking cannabis, importation of cannabis, possession of cocaine, possession with intent to supply cocaine, trafficking cocaine and importation of cocaine, the report said.

Prophett, the cook on the vessel Lady Sandra and Fraser, a sailor, were detained after Drug Squad personnel assisted by members of the Coast Guard and Customs Enforce-ment conducted a search aboard the vessel on Thursday, while it was docked at the Bridgetown Port.

The search unearthed 14.5 kilograms of cocaine and two kilograms of cannabis, the report added.
