Shot soldiers recovering

One of the soldiers who was shot late Wednesday night was discharged from the hospital while the other is currently recovering.

Stabroek News had reported that the two soldiers were walking along the seawall with others, all stationed at Camp Ayanganna, when they were attacked by armed bandits.

According to a police press release issued yesterday, investigations have revealed that Andries Henry and King Pablo were with other persons on the seawalls, when they were approached by three men during which one of them discharged rounds from a handgun at the soldiers and escaped on motorcycles.

“Andries Henry was hit to his left foot while King Pablo was shot to his right foot,” the police said.

This newspaper was told that the two injured soldiers had been walking ahead of others, when the men on motorcycles approached them and tried to rob them. After the men resisted, one of the men on the bikes, who was armed with a handgun, fired four shots towards them, hitting the two men.

The two men were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, from where Henry has since been discharged. Yesterday, Pablo was recovering after an operation to remove a bullet from his foot.

Police said they are investigating.
