According to a press release from GNBS, the training which concluded on September 25, 2015 was “focused on Metrology (weights and measures), and was necessary as the BBS seeks to build capacity to begin offering such services to the citizenry of the Bahamas.”

The BBS was only established in 2013 and is currently staffed by 12 persons and as a part of its function, intends to provide metrology and other services in the field of standardisation.

During a ceremony held to honour the participants, GNBS Chief Inspector Jermaine Softley congratulated the trainees and encouraged them to practice their newly acquired skills.

Three Guyanese also benefited from the training; one inspector and two inspector assistants.
