Minister of Tourism Catherine Hughes, in response to questions by reporters at a press conference on Thursday about the decoration, said she had observed the display and addressed her concerns to the minster via an email and in response, was thanked by Ramjattan for bringing the issue to his attention.

However, Hughes said there is a need to raise the awareness and the requisite sensitivity as it relates to the era of conservation and sustainable preservation.

As such, the practice inherited from a traditional culture of hunting where displays of heads and skins of wild animals will no longer be promulgated. She believes that the relevant authorities have not been strong enough on educating the society on the issue.
