Teen gets two years for armed robberies

A teenager will be spending the next two years in jail after admitting to five counts of armed robbery.

Anfernee Archer, 17, who had initially pleaded not guilty to the charges in August, unexpectedly changed his plea and accepted responsibility for the crimes yesterday.

The charges against Archer stated that on August 21st, at West Ruimveldt, while being armed with a gun, he robbed Jameila Massiah, Keith Conway, Dimitris Howard, Kimberly Moore, Kimberly Billy and Jermaine Kirk of a quantity of articles, valued $175,000 in total. The articles stolen included personal documents, handbags, cell phones, jewellery and cash.

Archer was sentenced to two years on each of the counts by city magistrate Alex Moore but the sentences are to run concurrently.
