Copa Air adds two more flight days to Guyana route

Copa Airlines plans to increase its flights to Guyana with the addition of two more days of its Guyana – Panama route with onward connections from December 16.

This comes in the light of the airline being granted approval by the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority to expand its service to Guyana.

According to Regional Sales Director, Diego Bermudez Parra, Copa is extremely proud to serve the Guyanese public and by extension, “provide a way by which Guyana’s tourism product could be further enhanced.

“Our partnership as a Star Alliance member means that there are many more opportunities for Guyanese to travel, covering over 1,321 destinations in 193 countries with more than 18,000 daily flights and more than 1,000 VIP lounges,” the sales director said.

Nadine Oudkerk, Sales Manager in Guyana, noted that the response from Guyana over the last year has been overwhelming with “very healthy load factors in flights departing and landing in Guyana” with just two flights per week.

She said Copa saw the need to increase its flight days, thus offering a better service to the Guyanese public.

Oudkerk also reinforced Copa’s commitment to forge greater social partnerships with Guyanese, noting that the Panamanian airline is a keen supporter of corporate social responsibility.

With the addition of the new flight days, come December 16, the Panamanian flag carrier will be operating flights on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

July 11 marked one year since Copa Airlines started its operations in Guyana with one-stop connections to 74 countries in 31 countries around the Caribbean and the Americas.

Earlier in the year, the Copa added five new destinations to its already extensive network: Belize, Villahermosa and Puebla in Mexico, San Francisco and New Orleans.

According to a statement issued by the airline, the decision was also based on a growing demand from the travelling public and the airline’s plans to expand and improve its service.
