Friendship woman gets bail after denying larceny charge

A young mother was on Friday accused of stealing over $100,000 in jewellery from another woman.

Shellon David, 22, of Friendship Squatting Area, East Bank Demerara, was released on $50,000 bail after she pleaded not guilty to a charge of simple larceny that was read to her by city magistrate Fabayo Azore.

It is alleged that between October 27th and October 28th, at Friendship, David stole a quantity of gold and diamond jewellery, valued at $151,000, from the dwelling house of Pamela Chandan.

No further details were presented to the court and Prosecutor Simone Payne had no objections to David, a mother of three, being granted her pre-trial liberty. She is expected to make her next court appearance on November 5th before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
