Inniss, of Seaforth Street, Campbellville, told Stabroek News yesterday that after he had closed his store around 7PM Saturday and was sitting in his car about a building away from the store he was approached by 3-4 men.

“I was just sitting in the car and they rush up and pulled me out and started beating me,” he said, stating that while the entire thing happened in a “blur” he remembered one of them being armed with a bottle and another with a shotgun.

“They tek away my cellphone and other things from the car and all I remember is hearing one of them saying ‘shoot he, shoot he’,” Inniss added, stating that he subsequently felt a gunshot to his knee and he fell to the ground. He said that after he was shot the men rushed to a parked grey-coloured vehicle and subsequently escaped with his phone, wallet, and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Inniss was then rushed to the GPHC by a neighbour who hurried out after the gunshot. Inniss has since had knee surgery. He is currently still admitted at GPHC and is expected to be discharged today.
