$191M contracts awarded for road rehab

The Ministry of Communities has awarded nine contracts valued at more than $191M for road rehabilitation and reconstruction works in Regions Three, Four, Five, Six and Ten.

According to a Communities Ministry press release, the projects are being executed under the Community Infrastructure Improve-ment Project (CIIP) and contracts were awarded to the following companies: S Jagmohan Hardware Supplies and Construction, XL Eng-ineering, Compustruct Engineering Inc, H Nauth and Sons, N Lachman Business Establishment and Civil Works, Mohamed Ramzanalli Khan, and Krishna Jagdeo General Contractor.

Collectively, eight communities are expected to benefit from the projects namely: Sisters Village, West Bank Demerara; Melanie/Non Pareil; New Amsterdam; Tuschen North Housing Scheme; Linden; Cummings Lodge; and Buxton.

 

During the signing ceremony, Project Coordinator of CIIP, Karen Roopchand said, it is the ministry’s expectations, that all of the contractors would complete their works within the stipulated time frame failing which liquidated damages will be applied.
