Hughes said that although National Tree Planting Day was on October 3rd, her ministry, which was unable to participate, decided to plant trees this month as a part of its Tourism Awareness activities. The ministry decided to replace four of the Flamboyant trees which used to line the avenue as a commitment to “greening the city,” she said, while adding that her staff will maintain the trees.

The trees were planted outside Colgrain House by Hughes, Director of Tourism Donald Sinclair who was assisted by a little girl who was eager to participate, and representatives of the Consumer Affairs Division and Guyana Tourism Authority – departments in the Tourism Ministry.
