Bakewell supervisor chopped and robbed at Palmyra

A Bakewell supervisor in Berbice was chopped and robbed on Saturday night as he was about to make his way home.

Andre Sukhwa was chopped about his left hand by two men armed with a cutlass and gun and robbed of $80,000 in cash.

Sukhwa told reporters that after entering the company’s bond at Palymra, Corentyne to park the truck, he was about to leave for home when he was accosted by two men. He recalled that one of the men started to fire chops as the other threatened to shoot him if he did not cooperate. Sukhwa said he used his hands to block the chops resulting in a finger being partially severed.

The man said while he was being chopped the other bandit searched through his car and found the cash which was his own. They then escaped.
