Another delay in trial of cops accused of Colwyn Harding assault

The trial of the two police constables accused of assaulting detainee Colwyn Harding, who has accused police of using a baton to rape him, was adjourned again yesterday.

The trial of constables Devin Singh and Roselle Tilbury-Douglas was set to continue yesterday at the Providence Magistrate’s Court.

However, it was adjourned to December 3rd, 2015, after Magistrate Leron Daly was unable to make it to court due to illness.

Singh and Tilbury-Douglas were jointly charged with assaulting Harding between Novem-ber 1st and November 13th, 2013, at the Timehri Police Station. Singh is also separately charged with assaulting Harding.

Harding has alleged that Singh rammed a condom-covered baton up his anus and that he later physically assaulted him.

Harding had testified at the last hearing on October 8th about the alleged assault and was set to continue his testimony yesterday.
