Corentyne family seeking answers in miner’s stabbing death

A Corentyne family is seeking answers following the death of a loved one in the interior of Guyana.

Reports are that Santee Solomon, 35, of Line Path, Skeldon and Nurney, Corentyne was stabbed to death by two men at Itiki.

According to the man’s reputed wife, Alisha Ross, Solomon was working in the interior with Bacchus International Gold Mines.

The woman stated that after her husband was stabbed by two men, he was airlifted to the Bartica Public Hospital and later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital. She claimed that her husband’s boss was unimpressed with the medical attention given at the Bartica Hospital.

A post-mortem examination performed by Pathologist Dr Nehal Singh showed that Solomon, a father of one, died from a punctured lung.

Ross said a cousin had called her and told her that her husband had been stabbed and she immediately called the boss who confirmed it.

Ross told Stabroek News that they family is seeking answers as they never received any official report from the police on the progress of the investigations.

Ross pointed out that Solomon left for the interior days after the 2015 regional and general elections.

He was laid to rest on Saturday last.

His is survived by his wife, five-year-old son and relatives
