M&CC institutes Revenue Investigation Unit

The Mayor and City Council (M&CC) has established a Revenue Investigation Unit in the City Treasurer’s Department as it seeks to ensure property owners pay their contributions.

According to an M&CC press release, the division will, among other things, be investigating premises to ensure that the buildings and structures thereon fall within the Council’s tax system and that the accurate rates are paid to the municipality; sensitising property owners about the importance of paying their rates; and guaranteeing establishments pay the appropriate fees and additional charges required for them to operate within Georgetown.

As the unit commences operations, the M&CC is requesting the cooperation of property owners in its efforts to develop the Georgetown.
