Humanitarian charity Dharm Shala appeals for donations

The Dharm Shala, well-known ‘Home of Benevolence for all races’ founded by Pandit Ramsaroop Maraj, now in its 94th year is appealing for financial assistance to continue its charitable work in assisting the needy in society.

In a release the Managing Head of the organisation explained that the institution relies totally on funding from businesses, individuals and the general public to manage its nine Dharm buildings, located in Georgetown and Fort Canje Berbice, and deliver proper care to the residents on a daily basis.

It was revealed that utility costs (electricity and water rates) have depleted a large portion of the establishment’s carefully accumulated reserve funds.

The Head also reminded that as time fast approaches for the charity’s annual Christmas party for poor children and its traditional Christmas lunch, donations can be sent to either the President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Assistant Secretary of the Dharm Shala or to Edward Boyer of National Hardware (Guyana) Limited.
