Man to face trial over theft of $760

An Albouystown man was on Friday granted $10,000 bail after he appeared before a city court to face a charge of stealing $760.

It was alleged that on Thursday, December 10th, 2015, Sherwin Lynch, of James Street, Albouystown, stole the money from Sonia Narine.

Lynch, 32, pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared before Magistrate Annette Singh.

Lynch claimed that he found the money on the ground, while Narine, who was present, insisted that her money was in her wallet along with her ID card and bank card, which were never recovered.

Lynch offered to give Narine $5,000 to compensate for her loss and to drop the charge against him but she refused and instead requested that the matter go to trial. As a result, the magistrate placed Lynch on $10,000 bail and he is due back in court on January 13th, 2015.
