Health Ministry takes dental care to Uncle Eddie’s Home

Residents of the Uncle Eddie’s Home on Friday benefited from the implantation of dentures, as the Ministry of Public Health and the Cheddi Jagan Dental Centre took their Christmas cheer to the institution, GINA said.

Minister of Public Health Dr. George Norton pointed out that, “Oral health is important regardless of age.

It is a human right and is essential to the general health of persons and their well-being.”

He added that it was in recognition of this that the government allocated over $83.5M in the 2015 Budget for dental health services.

The Minister also thanked Dr. Shameer Ali, from the Dental School for his continued dedication to his profession and the country’s people.

Lloyd De Freitas, an elderly resident of the home thanked the government for the undertaking. He noted that he had been a resident of the home for 10 years and had never witnessed any such initiative.
