Mahdia miner remanded on attempted murder charge

A miner was yesterday remanded to prison on a charge of attempted murder, when he appeared before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

It is alleged that Brian Williams, 23, of Princeville Village, Mahdia, Potaro River on December 20, at Princeville, wounded Troy Daniels with intent to commit murder. Williams, was not required to plead to the indictable charge.

Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones, who objected to Williams’s bail application based on the gravity of the offence, said that the virtual complainant is still receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Brian was subsequently, remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and his matter was then transferred to the Mahdia Magistrate’s Court to be heard again on January 18, 2016.
