T&T TV host dies in fire at home

(Trinidad Express) TELEVISION personality Marcia Henville was scheduled to file divorce papers tomorrow.

Instead, an autopsy will be performed on her body tomorrow.

Henville, known for her fearless personality and ever-changing hairstyles, died at her Fidelis Heights, St Augustine, townhouse yesterday.  A close relative is now assisting police with their investigations into the incident. Fire officials and police officers were called to Henville’s home yesterday because of a fire. That fire was confined to the bedroom where Henville’s body was found.

Henville, 51, sustained burns to her back. Her husband is currently warded at the Eric Williams Medical Scien-ces Complex (EWMSC) in Mt Hope, suffering from first-degree burns to his arms and legs as a result of the incident. He is said to have jumped out of the second-storey bathroom window when the fire started. Reports yesterday indicated residents heard an argument taking place inside Henville’s home at the gated community. Shortly after that argument, there was an explosion and the fire started.  The incident took place around 6 a.m.  Henville’s two children, Chioke, 20, and Nikeiya, 16—who were also home at the time of the incident— were not injured.

Henville’s attorney, Fulton Wilson, yesterday took to his Facebook page to express outrage over the incident.  “I just got the news about Marcia Henville from my neighbour. I am devastated, angry, sad, upset, etc. Knew her over 20 years. After I left journalism, our paths hardly crossed, except for the occasional gym meeting. That changed recently when she came to me to do her divorce. The documents were due to be signed and filed on Monday. I am very, very angry,” Wilson said.

Wilson yesterday visited the St Joseph Police Station to hand over documents and other information provided to him by Henville as part of her reasons for seeking a divorce.

Henville was the host of CCN TV6’s Point Blank programme.

She was also a former news editor at the Trinidad Express.
