Two T&T cops charged with rape, bribery, kidnapping

(Trinidad Express) A police constable with nine years’ service and a special reserve police officer with less than one year service, in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, were today, charged with nine criminal offences including indecent assault and grievous sexual assault.

The officers were charged by Sgt. Deodath Seepersad of the Professional Standards Bureau and will appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate today.

In addition to the assault charges, the accused also face charges of kidnapping, false imprisonment, attempting to pervert the course of justice and corruptly soliciting and receiving TT$1800 and TT$3000 respectively from the alleged victim.

The charges arise from incidents occurring on February 25th, and March 9th along Saddle Road, Maraval.
