Two Guyanese held in Barbados over drugs

(Barbados Nation) Two Guyanese nationals were scheduled to appear in court yesterday in Barbados to face separate drug charges.

Ronda Williams, 27, has been charged with possession, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation of 1.7 kilos of cocaine after being arrested at the Grantley Adams International Airport on Monday.

Williams was interviewed by police after she arrived in Barbados and was referred to Customs for a search of her luggage which revealed three packages of cocaine in a false compartment. She was expected to appear at the District B Magistrates Court.

Meanwhile, 44-year-old Danpaul Singh, who lives at Industry Hall, St Philip is facing two counts each of possession of cannabis, possession with intent to supply and trafficking.

On Saturday, Singh, who was vending at the Cheapside Market in Bridgetown, was searched by police and 250 grammes of cannabis were discovered in his possession. Subsequently, a search warrant was executed at his residence and 34 grammes of cannabis were seized.

He was expected to appear at the District A Magistrates Court.
