Crabwood Creek teen remanded over armed robbery

An 18-year-old Crabwood Creek resident was refused bail on Monday in the Whim Magistrate’s Court after he was charged with robbery under arms.

Michael Hutson of Grant 2767 Crabwood Creek, Corentyne, Berbice appeared before Magistrate Charlyn Artiga to answer to the indictable charge which did not require a plea.

The charge read that on December 24, Hutson, being armed with a knife, robbed Dilkumarie Chalitar of $11,000, one gold and diamond ring worth $25,000, three gold bangles worth $180,000 two gold rings valued $10,000, ten pairs of gold earrings value $100,000, a cellular phone worth $60,000 and electronic gadgets valued $15,000 a total value of $446,000 property of Chalitar.

Police Prosecutor Sergeant Phillip Sherriff objected to bail on the grounds that the accused was previously charged with a similar offence. Magistrate Artiga upheld the objection and bail was refused.

 

She then moved to transfer the matter to the Springlands Magistrate’s Court for January 15, 2015.
