Reports are that around 7 am yesterday, two armed men on a CG motorcycle entered the Kaieteur News outlet and demanded cash from a worker as he was behind the counter tending to customers. One of the men placed a gun to his mouth saying “give me the money and you will live” and he complied. Upon exiting the building the gunman also robbed Accra after which he shot him once.

As all this was happening inside, three other workers were outside the building at the said time after returning from transacting some business. One of them was approached by the other bandit who was standing outside the building.

Muneshwar Balgobin, the supervisor of the said office told this newspaper, “Everything just happen so fast that we couldn’t even do nothing, he put a gun to me waist and say give me the key for the bus and I give him.” Balgobin said he is thankful that nothing happened to him and his colleagues but added that the bus keys the man got included those of the office also. He said that he wouldn’t be able to state the amount of cash involved since the day had just started and transactions weren’t closed as yet.

Attempts to make contact with officials from Kaieteur News proved futile.

The men made good their escape with an undisclosed sum of money by proceeding east along Robb Street on the motorcycle.
