Guyana Goldfields holds forum on opportunities for women

Guyana Goldfields on Friday continued to engage Civil Society in preparation for its upcoming production of gold this year at its Aurora Mine in the Cuyuni (Region Seven).

A release from the company said that following up on its Business Supplier’s & Procurement Forum Engagement Conference held at the Umana Yana in May 2014, Guyana Goldfields Inc/AGM hosted another one-day discussion forum entitled “Creating Opportunities for Women in GGI/AGM Inc. The company said that the event was attended by several women’ organisations and like-minded individuals at the Cara Lodge on Quamina Street.

The event was chaired by Dr. Paulette Bynoe and began with a minute of silence for Dr. Faith Harding whom Guyana Goldfield’s/AGM Inc had engaged with in the past.

Three of Guyana Goldfield’s/AGM Inc. female employees from the Aurora Mine , Karen Greene (Earth & Fieldworks Foreman) , Dr. Maya Layne (Medical Doctor) and Lorraine Lorrimer (Heavy Duty Operator) shared their experiences as employees at the mine site.
