Works Ministry completes $12.3M in road repairs at Cane Grove, Mahaica

The Ministry of Public Works (MPW) recently completed the resurfacing of the main access road and Third Street at Granny Field, Cane Grove, Mahaica.

According to a press release from the Ministry, the project to resurface the roads with asphaltic concrete was awarded to R and B Investment Contractors. it began on January 5 and was completed February 6.

This project, the release said, was initiated after petitions from residents during a visit to the area last year by President Donald Ramotar and Works Minister Robeson Benn.

Project Engineer Khiraj Bissear said, “The area was inundated due to heavy rainfall, and his Excellency and Minister Benn got a first-hand look of the residents’ plight.”

Several residents in the farming community expressed gratitude for the newly resurfaced roads, the release added.
