Ali using ministry for PPP/C appeal to house lot awardees

Minister of Housing Irfaan Ali is using his ministry to distribute letters to persons that obtained house lots to appeal for votes for the People’s Progressive Party/ Civic (PPP/C) at the general elections.

“We must work together to ensure that the PPP/C returns to office with a majority in the National Assembly so that our dream for a prosperous and economically viable Guyana can be realised,” Ali writes in the letter to allottees.

Efforts by Stabroek News to contact Ali for comment on the letter proved futile as several calls to his mobile number went unanswered.

In the nine-paragraph letter, dated April 17, 2015, which was mailed out to house lot awardees from the ministry’s database, tries to make a case for the re-election of the PPP/C. In particular, he notes that since the last general elections, the PPP/C has distributed 15,000 new house lots so that Guyanese can have their own home.

“Without a doubt, the works of the PPP/C Government have had a significant impact in your life, you are the legal owner of a plot of land,” the letter states.

“Today you have been able to achieve what maybe your parents could have only dreamed about- home ownership. This PPP/C Government has made your dream come through and your family can now live happily together,” it further adds.

Ali ends the letter urging persons to support the PPP/C. “I implore you to join in giving the PPP/C your full support as we seek to build a united and viable Guyana. We owe it to ourselves and the future generations. We owe this to our conscience. The PPP/C remains committed to you and your family. In return, I humbly request your support and commitment to the PPP/C,” the letter states.
