Community service ordered for ganja-carrying bus conductor

Caught with cannabis is his pocket, a bus conductor was yesterday fined and ordered to perform community service at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

Oric Broomes, 27, of Lot 111 Guyhoc Park accepted that on June 30 at Tucville he had in his possession four grammes of cannabis.

According to Prosecutor Deniro Jones, on the day in question, ranks of the East La Penitence Police station were on patrol duty when at Turning Point, Tucville they saw the defendant acting in a suspicious manner. A search was conducted on him and the cannabis found in his right side pants’ pocket.

Magistrate Ann McLennan imposed a fine of $10,000 along with two weeks’ community service to be performed every day from 6 pm – 6.30 pm. The magistrate also informed Broomes that defaulting in the performance of the community service will result in his imprisonment.
