Cops seeking suspect in Gateroy murder

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) issued a wanted bulletin yesterday for a suspect in the murder of a Berbice River resident who died over a week ago after a confrontation. According to a police press release, Haman Kumar Bowham, called “Roy,” is wanted for questioning in relation to the death of Curtis Harris, which occurred on October 10th, at Gateroy Village, Berbice River.

Stabroek News was told that Bowham and the deceased were drinking together at a shop in Berbice when a confrontation occurred and Bowham allegedly inflicted several injuries about Harris’ body.

A post-mortem examination subsequently revealed that Harris died as a result of an incised wound he sustained. The police had held Harris’ son for questioning and he was later released, according to a police source. However, he was re-arrested after the result of the post-mortem examination was revealed. He is currently free on station bail.

Bowham, who is of East Indian descent, is 33. His last known address is Lot 94 Theatre Alley, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
