Another fatal accident occurred yesterday at about 23:20 hrs on the No. 74 Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice, the police say. The accident involved motor car PEE 6017 owned by Omchand Nourang of Lot 22 B #69 Village, Corentyne and driven by Balram Nourang, 19 yrs of the said address. Haresh Ramsaywack, 17 yrs of Lot 241 No. 69 village, Corentyne was also an occupant.
Enquiries revealed that motor car PEE 6017 was proceeding south along the eastern drive lane at a fast rate when the driver swerved west and lost control of the vehicle and the left front door of the vehicle collided with the concrete base of the No. 75 Arch located at the western corner of the No. 74 Public Road. As a result, the driver was flung out of the vehicle and the passenger who was seated in the front passenger seat was pinned down.
The police say that both occupants suffered injuries to their head and about their bodies and were picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to the Skeldon Hospital where they were seen and examined by Dr. Lalbachan who pronounced them dead on arrival.
