No reimbursement for truck which fell off steamer in 2013

Dear Editor,

I am one of the business personnel who has been using the T&THD facility to transport my goods from Parika to Bartica for the past 30 years or more.

On the 28th September 2013, my vehicle GLL 7958, loaded with goods, was on the steamer but owing to the negligence of the captain when he pulled off the Parika Stelling to turn the vessel around, my truck fall overboard because the turn was too steep.

All the necessary information was sent to Transport and the Minister, and they promised to reimburse me for the truck and goods, but to date nothing has been done about it. I met with the President twice in Bartica, and he put me on to Minister Benn who referred me to the Manager of Transport & Habours.

I am so tired and fed up with the pushing around they have been giving me. At present I am hiring a truck to do my business and it is very costly and difficult.

Yours faithfully,
Mohamed R D Khan
