WPA not concerned with the fortunes of the party but more with the fortunes of the country

Dear Editor,

I read with great amusement and anger the caption of an article published in Kaieteur News of February 17 ‘WPA has no interest in the pro-democracy alliance -Ogunseye.’

The caption seeks to portray me as a political idiot, something which I greatly object to. How on earth could someone who wants the country to benefit from the APNU-AFC Alliance at the same time claim to have no interest in the fortune of such an alliance?

This is not merely a contradiction but a wilful distortion of what I said at the press conference when I made the point that the WPA was not concerned with the fortunes of the party (WPA) but more with the fortunes of the country.

It is very clear that what I sought to do at the press conference was to make it very clear that the WPA is more concerned with the benefits that the alliance can generate for the country and its people than what the WPA as a party will get out of the arrangements.

I note that the article quoted me as speaking to Kaieteur News when in fact what I said was made directly to all media house persons who attended the press conference.

Finally, Editor I say without apology that the confusion created by the caption in the article was not the work of the reporter but was as a result of editorial prerogative.

Yours faithfully,

Tacuma Ogunseye
