Keavon Bess returned as GABBFF president

Attorney-at-Law, Keavon Bess was returned unopposed as President of the Guyana Amateur Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (GABBFF) when the body held its AGM yesterday at GOA’s Kingston headquarters.

Bess, 29, thanked the group for their continued confidence and listed a litany of achievements in giving his (2013-2014) reports. He also passed around a document which showed the GABBFF’s certification by the Company’s Act of Guyana.

Speaking with Stabroek Sport following his re-election Bess said the main focus for him will be “taking the sport of bodybuilding to another level from the athletes, to the judging of the competition to the incentives.”

He added that the federation will also embark on a vigorous fund-raising drive.

“Fundraising will be one of our main focuses this year as funding has been a problem over the years where it pertains to sending teams to regional events,” he said.

For the next two years, Bess will be assisted by veteran bodybuilder Hugh Ross who was re-elected vice president.

Also re-elected were Videsh Sookram as Organizing Secretary and Moressa Oscar as Treasurer.

Stacey McKinnon was nominated as the new General Secretary replacing Fiona Peters, while Olanda Barnes was assigned the task of Assistant Secretary/Treasurer replacing Calvin Holmer.
