Anderson named BCB U15 Inter County captain

Kelvin Omroa’s XI defeated Kevlon Anderson’s XI by 69 runs in the final of two trial matches organised by the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) which was used to help select the Berbice Under-15 team for the upcoming inter county tournament set to bowl off on Sunday.

The Berbice Under-15 14-man team will be led by young Anderson who will have Omroa as his deputy.

The decision was made by the junior selection panel headed by Leslie Solomon after the conclusion of the two practice matches which featured consecutive wins for the Omroa-led XI.

Batting first, Omroa XI made 159-8 thanks to Berbice U15 all-rounder Seon Glasgow (Jnr.) who top scored with 44. Young Berbice batsman Junior Sinclair supported with 24 and Andrea Bissoondial 22. Bowling for Anderson’s XI, Aaron Beharry, Joshua Bacchus and Daniel Moses took 2 wickets apiece for 10, 14 and 25 runs respectively.

In reply, Anderson’s XI was routed for a meager 90 with only Brandon Mangal and Garfield Benjamin reaching double figures with 17 and 15 runs respectively. Nigel Deodat led the bowling with 4 for 29, with support from Glasgow and Gevon Schultz who captured two wickets each.

The team manager is former national U19 pacer Kwesi Maltay while the coach is former West Indies youth captain and senior national player Andre Percival. Players are asked to report to the Young Warriors Ground for practice sessions today and tomorrow from 3:00pm.
