Defending champs maul Black Pearl 3-0

Defending champs Western Tigers got their title defence off to the perfect start, mauling Black Pearl 3-0 when the u-15 section of the Frank Watson Memorial u-15 and u-17 tourney continued yesterday.

Tyrese Haynes opened the scoring in the fifth minute at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) in Bourda, thumping his effort into the top left hand corner of the net.

Haynes would then double their lead 10 minutes later, completing his double with a simple finish to back of the net after the keeper spilt the ball into his path following an initial strike.

Romel Maxwell would complete the win for the West Ruimveldt giants, rifling a powerful right footed free kick from outside the centre of the box, into the top left hand corner of the net.

Sunburst Camptown defeated Pele FC after the latter was found to have fielded an overage player at the

conclusion of the fixture. Prior to Pele’s disqualification, the ineligible player Leon Richardson netted a double in the third and 11th minutes.

He was supported by Beres Parkinson who scored in the 21st minute. On target in the loss was Jamal December in the 24th minute. Fruta Conquerors got their campaign off to the positive beginning, crushing Riddim Squad 3-0.

Malachi Adonis led the winners with a double in the 12th and 21st while Jeremy Garrett netted a solo effort in the 24th minute to seal the win. Similarly claiming a win was Santos who defeated Beacons FC by a 1-0 margin.

Randy Roberts netted the fixture’s only goal in the 15th minute through a penalty kick conversion to the right hand corner, after Darren Nyles was brought down within the box. The action is slated to continue today at the same venue with four matches in the u-17 section.
