Sparta Boss football tourney set for rollicking start

The knockout round of the Sparta Boss 32 team first anniversary street football tourney will officially commence tonight at the Sparta Boss Tarmac in East La Penitence.

The opening matchup at 20:00hrs will witness North East La Penitence facing off against Festival City Street Fighters while defending champions Future will attempt to attempt to get their defence off to the perfect start when they lock horns with Albouystown-B in the second engagement at 20:30hrs.

In the third matchup, Alberttown will oppose Bent Street from 21:00hrs while Tiger Bay-B will tackle Rasville Warriors from21:30hrs. The fifth match at 22:00hrs will witness Leopold Street facing off with Chester’s Jewellery whilst Island All-Stars will tackle Sparta Kids from 22:30hrs.

In the seventh programmed affair, Back Circle will match skills with Castillo Housing Scheme from 23:00hrs while the final fixture of the evening will see tourney hosts Sparta Boss opposing Pike Street from 23:30hrs.

The other competing teams are Globe Yard, Festival City, Albouystown-A, Guyhoc Skulls, Unruly Kids, West Front Road-Gold is Money, Tiger Bay-A, Kofi Warriors, Stevedore Housing Scheme, Plaisance, Charlotte Street, Broad Street Bullies, North Ruimveldt, Kofi Rebels, Fruit Stand and Sophia.

Winner of the tourney will pocket $400,000 and the championship trophy while the second placed unit will receive $200,000 and the runners-up accolade. The third place finisher will walk away with $100,000.

The action continues on Friday at same venue with the second round of knockout fixtures. Sponsors of the tournament are August Beverages, Sparta Boss and Rainbow Villas.
