Wins for Ravens, Republic Bank Nets and Colts in GABA King of the Hardcourt b/ball

Ravens commenced their Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) ‘King of the Hard Court’ Championship in the perfect manner defeating Pepsi Sonics 78-63 in their Open Divisional fixture on Sunday at the Burnham Court.

Tyrone Hamid led all scorers with 18 points while Ryan Gullen, Ryan Stephney and Dominic Vicente netted 15, 15 and nine points respectively. Kevin Cumberbatch was the top scorer for Sonics with 13 points.

He was supported by Earl O’Neil who netted 10 points and Junior Lovell and Sheldon Frank who netted seven points each.

In the second fixture of the night, Republic Bank Nets squeaked past University of Guyana (UG) by a 57-52 score line.

Fabian Johnson and Antwaun Austin led the Mandela Avenue unit with 16 points apiece while Pelham Doris supported with 10 points. Registering a game high 17 points in the loss was Emmanuel Archibald.

The opening matchup of the evening saw Colts defeating Knights by a 74-59 score line. Shane Webster and Dave Causeway were the principal scorers for Colts with 14 points apiece.

Supporting with nine, six and five points were Quacy Lindo, Rayon Cummings and Niko Fraser respectively. Netting a game high 15 points in the loss was Owan Walton while Akil Lewis and Randy Aaron scored 12 and 11 points correspondingly.

The action continues today at the National Gymnasium. The opening u-23 fixture of the evening at 18:00hrs will Republic Bank Nets against Dynas Ravens while Pepsi Sonics will oppose TGH Pacesetters from 20:00hrs in the second fixture of the section.
