Everest defeats Third Class by innings, 68 runs

Everest Cricket Club defeated Third Class by an innings and 68 runs Sunday in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/ Noble House Seafoods second division two-day tournament.

Played at the Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) ground, Everest recorded a first innings score of 332 after opting to take first strike.

Rafael Singh (67), Khemraj Ramdeen (57), Rajendra Dhanraj (58) and Rishi Hiralall (50) all got 50s for Everest. Andre O’Neil 3-38 and Martin Salik 2-54 were the pick of the bowlers for Third Class.

Javed Rasheed, who claimed 10 wickets in the match, wrecked Third Class’ batting in both innings. In the first innings he claimed 6-54 as Third Class was dismissed for 146 and in the second innings he bagged 4-52 as Third Class was routed for 118.

Ramdeen supported Rasheed with 4-23 in the second innings to complete a good all-round performance. S. Garnett top scored with 54 in Third Class’s first innings.

The win was Everest’’s second by an innings in as many matches after they defeated the Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) by an innings the previous weekend.
