GASA national long course c/ships open

—-Persaud, Grant, Seaton, George among winners

Aleka Persaud, Amy Grant, Leon Seaton and Onika George were among the winners at yesterday’s opening of the Guyana Amateur Swimming Association (GASA) National Long Course Swimming Championships at the National Aquatic Centre. Both Persaud and Grant won three of their events while Seaton and George was on top of two events. Persaud was atop in the Girls eight years and under events, winning the 50m freestyle in 34.16s as she bettered her seed time of 36.07s. She also won the 50m butterfly and 200m Individual Medley (IM) events while Grant took her 13-14 category by storm, topping the field in the 50m freestyle, 200m IM and 50m butterfly events. Seaton emerged as winner in 50m freestyle and butterfly races in the 9-10 age group while George claimed the 15-17 50m freestyle and butterfly events.

Other winners of the day were, Paul Mahaica boys U-8 50m freestyle, 50m butterfly and U-8 200 IM, Lian Winter girls 9-10 50m freestyle, Jadyn George girls 11-12 50m freestyle, Sekhel Tzedeq boys 11-12 50m freestyle and 100m backstroke, Omar Adams boys 15-17 50 freestyle, Britany van Lange girls 18 and over 50m freestyle, Andrew Fowler boys 18 and over 50m freestyle, Raekwon Noel boys 9-10 200m IM, Antonio Hussein boys 13-14 200m IM, Kenita Mahaica girls 13-14 100m backstroke, Nathon Hackett 13-14 boys 100m backstroke, Daniel Scott 13-14 boys 50m butterfly and Joseph Sequina boys 18 and over 50m butterfly.

The championships continue today.
