Chandrika’s WI call up earns life membership at Everest

Everest Cricket Club, home club of recently selected West Indies batsman Rajendra Chandrika has declared that by virtue of his call up, the right- handed batsman has become a life member of the organisation.

The club has also joined the many local cricket boards and clubs in sending congratulatory message to the cricketer

on his first international call up a few days ago. “The President, Executives and members of the Everest Cricket Club has congratulated their opening batsman Chandrika on his selection to the West Indies team to face Australia in the two-match test which commenced (Wednesday) in Dominica”, according to a press release from the club.

The 25-year-old alongside Barbados 23-year-old wicket-keeper batsman Shane Dowrich both earned their first call up but Chandrika missed out on making the final 11 as West Indies opened the first Test against Australia Wednesday.

“The club wishes him a long and fruitful career, noting his elevation is a result of the hard work he had done over the years,” the release stated.

The club has also congratulated Travis Persaud on his selection as captain of the Guyana U19 team and expressed disappointment at the exclusion of the Shivnarine Chanderpaul from the West Indies side for the current series.
